Questions

Before your first visit

01

Is Dr. Cole accepting new patients?

Yes. Jeff Cole, MD is accepting new patients at his Memphis practice for hand, wrist, and elbow care.

02

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see Dr. Cole?

No. A referral is not required to schedule an appointment. Many patients reach Dr. Cole through a primary care doctor, an emergency department, or another specialist, since his practice works closely with referring physicians across the Memphis area, but you are welcome to call the office directly.

03

What hand, wrist, and elbow conditions does Dr. Cole treat?

A broad range. Dr. Cole treats hand pain, wrist pain, elbow pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, thumb CMC joint arthritis, tennis elbow (epicondylitis), hand and wrist fractures, scaphoid injuries and nonunion, tendinitis, nerve compression, and sports and trauma related injuries of the hand and wrist.

04

What should I do for a sudden hand, wrist, or elbow injury?

Call the office for an urgent evaluation. Dr. Cole's focus on trauma and sports medicine means acute upper extremity injuries, such as a new fracture, dislocation, or sports injury, can be seen quickly rather than waiting for a routine appointment slot.

05

Will I need surgery for my hand, wrist, or elbow condition?

Most people don't, at least not right away. Many conditions, including tennis elbow and early carpal tunnel syndrome, start with non-surgical care. When surgery is the right next step, Dr. Cole, who trained in surgery of the hand and upper extremity at Washington University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, offers options that include endoscopic carpal tunnel release and the TENEX procedure for epicondylitis, along with fracture care and surgical treatment for more complex hand, wrist, and elbow conditions.
